INGENIOUS PURPOSE is a creative organisation formed in 2014, combining the directorial, producing, composing and acting skills of Simon Slater, Kate Anderson and Patrick Sandford. Building on the many highly successful productions created by Patrick Sandford and Kate Anderson in their 12 year partnership running The Nuffield Theatre Southampton, Ingenious Purpose’s first full scale production – BLOODSHOT – sold out in both the 2013 Canterbury Festival and in a critically acclaimed run at St James’ Theatre in London in January 2014. BLOODSHOT will now play for a month at the Vertigo Theatre Calgary in January 2015 before embarking on a short UK tour.
Ingenious Purpose intends to create artistic experiences that entertain, stimulate, challenge, invigorate and enrich audiences. Our work is emotionally intelligent and stylistically flexible and economical. We aim to be light on our feet, ingenious and responsive to good creative ideas and we want to work with a wide range of stimulating people from inside and outside the arts sector. Ingenious Purpose is currently developing two new projects – a new play GROOMED, and a new creative project for summer 2015.
How we work:
Kate Anderson, Simon Slater and Patrick Sandford each have extensive experience in creating and running arts activities including theatre, outdoor arts and site specific performances. Ingenious Purpose projects may involve one or all directors and whilst theatre led, projects may incorporate different art-forms, creative teams and presentation styles. All three directors operate independent freelance careers alongside Ingenious Purpose.
Who we are:
